Underground Style

Underground Style

I spotted a girl wearing this outfit on the tube the other day and had to share it. A casual, effortless look. Some staple pieces with slight embellishments and layering just made it stand out. In essence it's a jumper, trousers and boots, but it's not just what she was wearing but how she was wearing it. She had rolled up the loose sleeves of the grey knit to show the cuffs of the shirt which were unbuttoned and folded to ensure a simple gold watch became visible on her wrist. A few plain gold bands dotted on different fingers and a nice neutral nail colour really finished off the look. Four words to sum it up: baggy, simple, city chic.

Tumblr Tinkering

Whilst interning at Motel I was given the company's Tumblr to look after. Update it with awesome photos, maintain those witty hashtags and get those adoring followers up.
It became my social media baby, my pride and joy, and it pained me to leave it to someone else. So I started my own Tumblr page for this blog, and filled it with my own inspiration and some awesome photos which reflect my style and personality. It's my new fave by far!

I am still learning loads about Tumblr and love to look at great blogs for inspiration and to see how everyone represents their own style through images. If you have a Tumblr page I would loveeee to take a look!

Slogan Sweats

You can't sit with us.

I love a good slogan sweater. I have my own 'that shit cray' in burgundy, however I'm looking to invest in another as it is too explicit to wear out doors. I already frighten small children, I don't want to scare the parents as well. I love this outfit (above), simple yet stylish. Although I dislike 'sneaks' being worn for anything other than exercise, this ensemble screamed Nike. Monochrome and Mean Girls, it works!

Midi Skirt Disaster

Midi Skirt

You must have noticed the midi skirts at the moment, my favourites are in Topshop. There's something 50's Givenchy glamour about them. I tried a few on, but settled on this light pink one from Dorothy Perkins because of its price (£20) and its colour. In essence, this should be a cute little outfit for a winter dinner in a fur coat. In reality? It looks awful.
The skirt was not at all what I expected when it came in the post, the colour is completely different from the picture, its a brighter pink, and the fabric is thin and cheap looking. I mean, it is cheap, but you can buy stuff in Primark, which when asked where its from and you say Primark, they go "OH MY GOD, WHATT?! I CAN NEVER FIND ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN THERE!"
So there was no excuse.
In this day and age, where online shopping is so popular, and the line between bricks and mortar and websites is getting rapidly smaller, being able to see a product up close and know what you're getting for your money is a bonus. When it still doesn't look like the picture after zooming in and examining it on the web, and you've paid a good few quid to get it delivered, or schlepped through the shoppers to get it from click and collect, this is somewhat less impressive.
But I guess there's an essence of mystery about it, hit and miss, and when you hit, you feel accomplished, when you miss, its just a ball ache to return.
Has anyone else bought a midi this season? Where from? I'm still on the look out after this disaster!

Best Dressed for Less No. 8

Alexa Chung Style

Can't believe I haven't posted a BDFL since November! oopsieee!
Anywho, the best dressed celebrities have been a bit lacklustre the last few times I've checked, and the only ones getting me excited are either Miranda Kerr or this lovely lady. It seems they can do no wrong! Although I'm still trying to work out what Alexa actually does apart from go to events in neat little outfits. Or is that all?
I love this outfit either way. The midi skirt is such an elegant way to dress up an outfit. The one I chose is obviously a lot less expensive than hers, as well as everything else. Although, if you can get a mulberry, that would be great.
A denim shirt wasn't my first choice, but I think it kind of works with this look. And I love the pointed toe heels. I have a pair of pointed flats that I've started wearing a lot. And everyone should have a leather jacket in their closet in my opinion!
So there you have it, I'll try not to leave it so long for the next Best Dressed for Less!

I love Giraffe

I often get compared to a giraffe, surprisingly because I'm 6ft tall, have a patch of giraffe-print like freckles and actually have a soft spot for them. I even got a giraffe pandora charm and a little silver giraffe for my 21st, which I love. So I decided to dedicate a post on all things fashion based on these lovely creatures. You may have spotted that its a popular print this season, mainly in Topshop, and although I've tried on almost everything to do with them, I haven't yet taken the plunge and bought something. But with Indonesia coming up I am definitely contemplating that tank top!

Lime Favourites

Lime Favourites

Lime has been creeping its way into the shops since it hit the latest fashion weeks, and as summer is really under way we are seeing more and more. Here are a few of my favourite lime picks from the high street.

Summer Outfit

Summer

I always like playing around with mood boards, and this is an outfit I made, which I like, and hope to be wearing soon when the sun finally shows up.
The dress is from Cow, which was my all time favourite shop in manchester. You can access their website here. It's one of those shops where all the stuff is vintagey and thrifty and it smells like your nans attic, and you feel like you've stepped into a macklemore/house indy convention, and I love it.
The bag is from Boohoo surprisingly, I love the tapestry fabric pattern and it reminds me of a bag I bought from urban outfitters years ago and still love as much today.
These items are pretty full on pattern and colour, so the rest is fairly simple.
