Golden Twenties

Oh look, another post about the twenties because of The Great Gatsby, shock horror. I know I'm being a sheep here, but I did see the film the other day and I did love all the costumes. The way Baz captured the era was perfect, he really hit the nail on the head, and it made me kick myself a little for not getting into costume design as a youngster.
Flapper dresses, dropped waists, feathers, frays, hats, headbands, pearls, it was all there and now its all here, on the high street that is. It has even sent a surge of shoppers trundling the rails for the styles in whats known atm as The Gatsby Effect, selling out lines in Debenhams, George, New Look and Miss Selfridge.
Me and my sister have loved the art deco era for a long time. Every time its someones birthday or a special occasion we pop into clintons to buy those cards that look like pictures or magazine clippings from the time, sad but true. I have wanted a cloche hat for about 2 years now and managed to find one but by the time I had the money for it, it was gone. But the point is, this era was beautiful, decidant and I'm so jealous of those who got to experience the styles first time round. They are clearly a classic if they are showering our shops again, or are the designers just running out of ideas?
Either way, here is some twenties outfit inspo.

The Twenties

P.S Leo was as stunning as ever and every time I watch him I remember crying when I was 6 years old because I couldn't marry him. Yes, I just told you that.

eBay Clear Out!

Hi Guys!

So I'm selling a few items on ebay, and I thought I'd share them with you to get the word out a bit more. I'm selling them for no other reason other than I need the money! It saddens me greatly to be parting with some of these items, especially as a known hoarder, but it has to be done.

Firstly I'm selling this casual navy blue day dress from Topshop, it has little capped sleeves and a button at the top to create a little notch front. I'm selling it in a size 8.
Really easy to put together an outfit with and great for going to work or uni or just shopping!

This starting price for this is £9.99, if your interested click here to look further on eBay.

This burgundy playsuit is from Miss Selfridge. I mainly wore it to go out in because its easy to dress up, especially in summer. I'm selling it in a size 10 and I've even kept the little string thingy that ties around it!

This one is selling for £8.59 and you can look at it on eBay here

Now this one I think I'm going to miss the most but I hardly wear it anymore so I may as well pass it onto a better home!
Its from Topshop, and its a size 8. It has a collared neckline and button detail down the chest and is nicely fitted with hoops to fit a belt around as well. It also has two pockets and is pleated at the waist line.

I love the floral print, makes it a bit more fun than just plain black on a night out.

This one has a starting price of £2.99 and a buy it now price of £9.99 and you can check it out on eBay here.

I realise I sound a bit like I'm working for a shelter and giving these things nice new places to live where they'll be loved but I really hate getting rid of things so its understandable!

Please let me know if any of the links aren't working, many thanks!

Happy eBaying!

Summer Sale Buys

Sale Buys

After working for a while, I've been able to afford a few pieces in the summer sales, maybe with a bit of help from Bank of Mum. Looking at it altogether, this is a pretty random selection of stuff if I must say so myself!

I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks, and along with hating all my wardrobe at the moment (it happens to all of us every now and again!) this is the main reason behind these purchases.

Topshop

The playsuit (£18) will be great for the day walking around in 40 degrees. I love the bright colour of the band around the waist.

The lilac jeans are a fun colour, something a bit different, and a bargain at £20. They are meant for the normal sized people, but after turning them up at the end a couple of times, they make a strapping pair of crops.

Miss Selfridge

The body is a nice, light, elastic material which will be perfect for a casual night out put with a pair of denim shorts. (£7)

And finally, the skater scarf print dress, not my first choice, but after trying it on, I was converted. (£29)

Hopefully these buys should get me started and I'm still racking the shelves for more summer sale deals!

Trending: Hand Chains

With jewellery becoming more weird and wonderful (nail rings didn't really take off) it seems that this summer, the hand chain is going to be a big hit (especially if Caggie Dunlop is wearing one).
With Eastern influences in their design they add instant uniqueness to any summery outfit. Basically every high street store has one or two to choose from and I have been pondering on which one to buy for a while. As much as I love to dress up my hands a bit, I'm thinking that £15 could be better spent on something more useful, but it seems that is the going price for these trinkets.

However as my daily browse through the e-tailers commenced, I came across the Dorothy Perkins sale where I found a lovely little hand chain, not too OTT, for a fiver.
Ba-da-bing, that was my choice sorted!
Below are a few other favourites from this seasons high street stores.
